FINANCIAL AND OPERATIONAL ASSESSMENTS

What Is It?

The financial and operational assessment involves an evaluation of hospital's performance, benchmarked against other Critical Access Hospitals. This is an objective evaluation of the well-being of your organization. It has various components:

Hospital Financial Assessment: The GSU team will calculate key financial performance indicators for your hospital. The financial indicators used are those recommended by the Flex Monitoring Team, a consortium of rural health research centers that have been funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health to evaluate the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Grant (Flex) Program. CAH leaders and managers have identified these financial indicators to be useful in assessing the financial positions of their facilities.

Revenue Cycle Assessment: This assesses the hospital’s revenue cycle performance and adoption of standards identified as best practices for  rural hospitals.

Rural Health Clinic Assessment: This is an assessment of the operational and financial performance of Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) operated by your hospital. Metrics include utilization, staffing, revenue and cost.

Skilled Nursing Facility Assessment: This is an operational assessment of the SNF operated by your hospital, using operational metrics including utilization, staffing, and reimbursement-related measures.
